Why do we exist?

Today's topic (just to get things started) is "Why Do We Exist?"
which I believe is a good place to start. Without knowing why we're here there is no way to know what direction to go in. Here are some possible answers, and you are encouraged to add more, comment, or say whatever you like. If I don't like what you say because it either depresses me or is profane I will simply delete it. I don't wish to censor, nor babysit. I will leave this blog open to all who wish too participate but will not allow it to become a Craigslist Rants & Raves. There are plenty of such sites for that.

OK - Here goes: (Possibilities that come to mind)

1. To live, pay taxes and die
2. To find our higher purpose
3. As an ongoing worm food growth experiment
4. Four depressed me so I deleted it
5. Because we have to learn lessons that permit us to move to a higher plane
6. We are here as a science project in some other lifeform's world
7. You tell me
8. We'll keep exploring until we come to some agreement.

SO, that being a short list of possibilities, I invite you to share your own theories on why we exist.

Simple. We have been put on this earth to hope. Hope that we might discover a purpose, fear of death, or ignorance that a purpose is necessary to justify continued existence.

I believe we are put here to learn as much as we can learn about everything.

Good point - But to what end? Can we ever really know everything? Not as individuals I think, but maybe as a species.

And what of the souls like yours and mine that gathered part of the knowledge in our lifetimes for generations to come? Do we get to share in the end result?

I thought we were here to learn everything we can learn about and then we die and come back and do it all over again until we each grow enough to move onto a higher existance.

If we think of ourselves as a whole, I would like to believe in some way that we can share the knowledge each of us have acquired in our lifetime or lifetimes with each other. I just don't think there are a lot of people out there who see things in that manner, and therefore, never strive for anything more than being mediocre. Which is what I see as a negative about human nature. Contentment isn't a bad thing but most people settle for it.

Okay, now I am rambling. Your turn.

OK Shelly,
I can buy that. One of my theories which I call "The Shoebox Theory" is that we are (to simplify) all in shoebox #1 to start. Then our lifetimes pass and at the end of it all we are sorted out in some cosmic way and some souls are put into shoebox #2, where others remain in #1 to repeat the whole process. When we ALL reach the last box we finally understand what it was all about. But then I have many theories. Thanks so much for your comment.

Have you looked at any of the other topics on this blog?

Take care
